Optics Engineer Straylight (m/f/d)


Aufgaben
  • Straylight design, analysis and simulation of optical systems from early concept phases up to detailed design and during realization
  • Technical interface to supplier and subcontractors to guide and monitor their development activities on the field of straylight
  • Definition of optical straylight verification, characterization and correction strategies
  • Definition of optical straylight requirements for optical systems, subsystems and equipment
  • Definition and conduction of trade studies to support optical design decisions, support in the generation of proposals and planning for future projects
  • Presentation of the results of your work in internal and external meetings with the customers
  • Support on system level and perform on sub-system level the opto-mechanical integration, alignment, characterization and test activities in clean rooms, as well as bread boarding in the optics lab
  • Establish and maintain the technical documentation related to the optical and opto-mechanical tasks
  • Support in the further development of optical design processes and tools, as well as core competences and enabling technologies

Profil
  • University degree or equivalent qualification in optics, physics, engineering or related technical discipline
  • Sound knowledge in the field of straylight analysis, design, characterization and verification of complex optical systems
  • Experience in the development of space optical instruments, telescopes, spectrometers and interferometers
  • Proficient user of straylight analysis software like ASAP or FRED and of optical design software like ZEMAX (NSC) and Code V
  • Experience in scripting with Python (and MatLab)
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural and multi-language team
  • Ability to work simultaneously in different projects
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport, build trust, and develop working relationships with other team members, customers and vendors
  • Organized and structured attitude and process-oriented thinking
  • High degree of motivation and personal identification with the respective task and project
  • Excellent English skills, both written and verbal

Optional Skills

  • Experience in space-flight industry, preferably with ESA or DLR projects
  • Experience of working in clean room environment from ISO5 to ISO 8
